Since deciding that we wanted to live in town and abandoning our plans to build on our property, things have been pretty frustrating for us. We looked at several pre-owned homes around the $200,000 price range and they all seemed to be crap. It's hard to spend that kind of money on something you can't fathom living in. Then we looked at some lots in town thinking maybe the solution was to put a pre-fab home down since they're faster than building ourselves, but if anything went wrong with that we could still be living in the tepee come winter. Plus we haven't sold our property or our house in Denver so we were pretty constricted on pricing. Buena Vista has a pretty hot real estate market right now and anything under $200,000 that is slightly charming is under contract before it even hits the MLS. You pretty much need the inside track. We were just about to give up hope, when we finally found a small house in town. Luckily Kirk's mom drove by it one day and called us right away. With some unbelievable luck, we were able to view it before it hit the MLS. We put a contract on it right away knowing if we snoozed we would lose. So we will be closing on our 565 square foot 1 bedroom, 1 bath little house built in 1910 that needs plenty of TLC on September 5th. Hopefully we move in soon after, but we plan on trying to fix a few things first. We're excited that we have a place to live for the winter and we can walk everywhere since it's in a great older neighborhood here in town.

Here's our new winter abode
